 Join us for the SGS Annual Course in Advanced Gynecologic Surgery! The 2018 Course takes place at the Royal Sonesta in New Orleans, LA from Thursday, November 29 - Saturday, December 1. 

The 2018 course schedule includes two full days of didactic lectures (November 29-30), followed by a full day of optional lab sessions (December 1), which includes Dry Labs, Laparoscopic Cadaver Dissection and Anatomy Lab and a Vaginal Hysterectomy and Sling Lab.

LAB SESSIONS APPROVED TO MEET 2018 ABOG IMPROVEMENT IN MEDICAL PRACTICE REQUIREMENTS   

The ABOG MOC standards now allow participation in ABOG-approved Simulation Courses to meet the annual Improvement in Medical Practice (Part IV) MOC requirement. This course has been approved to meet ABOG Improvement in Medical Practice requirements for 2018. Please review the 2018 MOC Bulletin here for further information. 

Optional cadaver sessions: 30 participants maximum per session
Laparoscopic Cadaver Dissection and Anatomy Lab
7:30 am - 11:30 am
  
Vaginal Hysterectomy and Sling Lab
12:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Optional Dry Labs: 8:30 - 11:30 am and 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm


Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of the meeting attendees should be able to:

1. Recognize the risks and benefits of different approaches to hysterectomy.
2. Improve their understanding and knowledge of complex pelvic anatomy and the pathophysiology for certain pelvic floor disorders.
3. Apply national safety initiatives into their practice to improve patient safety and quality of care.
4. Perform cystoscopy when indicated to evaluate for urinary tract injury during gynecologic surgery.
5. Utilize imaging in their counseling and treatment management of patients with endometriosis
6. Identify resources to enhance surgical skills for low-volume surgeons.
7. Develop techniques to improve teaching surgery if responsible for training future surgeons.
