Greetings from Minnesota! Spring has arrived (and if it has arrived here, you’ve likely already been enjoying it for a while!!). It is an honor to serve as your SGS President and to greet you with my first “President's Corner”. I hope you enjoyed another great SGS meeting in San Antonio. Congratulations to Past President Vivian Sung, MD, and 2017 Scientific Program Chair, Robert Gutman, MD, on an outstanding and engaging educational meeting and a fabulous Texas Hoe Down! SGS continues to flourish: record breaking meeting attendance, 18 new members inducted into the society, strong financial support for the SHARE program and development of the new Pelvic Anatomy Group which is supported by the new John O.L. John O. L. DeLancey Fund

The John O. L. DeLancey Fund was officially recognized at the SGS 43rd Annual Scientific Meeting. This fund will support the activities of the new Pelvic Anatomy Group (PAG). The initial work of this group is focused on the systematic review of the literature to establish nomenclature and the interpretation of 3D imaging to establish educational resources.

Fellow Scholars Tweet and Blog About SGS

Six SGS Fellow Scholars were awarded scholarships to attend the 43rd Annual Scientific Meeting. These awards were supported by Coloplast, CooperSurgical, Intuitive Surgical, OBG Management and the SGS Education Fund. Click HERE for more information on the 2017 Fellow Scholars.

SGS Mentees Honor 19 Mentors

SGS is a Society deeply rooted in the concept of mentorship and we were pleased to continue the Honor Your Mentor program at the 43rd Annual Scientific Meeting in San Antonio, TX. This program was developed as a way for SGS members and guests to recognize mentors who have shaped their careers, while also supporting and fostering the mission of SGS. All funds raised for this program support both the SRG and FPRN® programs.

SGS is proud to present the 19 honored Mentors here.

Since its inception in 2014, the SGS SHARE program has raised $212,000. SGS is increasing its utilization of these funds to provide additional programing to fulfill its mission.

Michael P. Aronson Fund supported scholarships for two young faculty members to attend the SGS Winter Postgraduate Courses

Research Funds supported the NIH Application Training Camps at the SGS Annual Scientific Meetings in 2014 and 2015

2016 - 2017

Texas Hoedown at SGS!!

Featuring Amadillo Racing, SGS hosted its 4th Annual Fund Development Event in San Antonio during the SGS 43rd Annual Scientific Meeting. Nine armadillo jockey positions were auctioned to the highest bidders to support the SGS SHARE program. In addition each team participated in fund raising activities. The winning jockey of the armdillo race finale was Erik Hokenstad with Team Mayo - MN. The winner of the fund raising activity was Team UAB. For more pictures from this fun evening click here.
