Winter Postgraduate Course in Advanced Gynecologic Surgery
The Winter Postgraduate Course is a Hallmark of SGS Education!
Here what learners say:
“I think I have gained some good advice to help me become a better surgeon and serve my patients”
“The videos were excellent; the format was excellent and really accessible. The overall tone of the meeting was just really collegial and open to sharing useful information. Would do this again and will recommend”
“Truly was a great way to spend a Sunday. I learned a ton.”
“The course far exceeded my expectations. The material was so enjoyable, the speakers were very knowledgeable and kind, and the time flew. I had so much fun!”
While historically a live multi-day hands-on course, the course was redesigned to be offered virtually on the first Sunday in December. The course includes three 90-minute panel presentations/discussions over a six-hour period (1) Pushing the Envelope with total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy, (2) Pushing the Envelope with Total Vaginal Hysterectomy, and (3) Difficult Cases/Surgical Anatomy. A limited number of 1:1 or small group coaching sessions are offered. The course will offer 4.5 CME credits which will be provided by Amedco.
At the conclusion of the course, learners are able to:
- Describe techniques to optimize minimally invasive routes to hysterectomy including laparoscopic, robotic-assisted, and vaginal approaches.
- Identify key anatomic structures and avascular spaces of the pelvis to optimize efficiency and safety in pelvic surgery.
- Formulate clinical algorithms for diagnosis and treatment of stress urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse.
- Describe work up for pelvic masses and application of medical and surgical treatment strategies for uterine preservation.
- Assimilate new techniques for teaching gynecologic surgery including surgical coaching.
Special thanks to Caldera Medical, Coloplast and Karl Storz for supporting this course in the past two years. Their help in offsetting expenses for the course is invaluable and so much appreciated.
