As the President of the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons, I am thrilled to welcome you to Orlando and our 50th anniversary meeting at the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld®!

The Scientific Program Committee, led by Dr. Sawsan As-Sanie, has worked tirelessly to create a thoughtful and invigorating program. Our theme, The Changing Landscape in Gynecologic Surgery, will address the challenges we face to stay at the forefront of innovation, to serve as mentors, and to navigate the best paths to educate the next generation of surgeons. With state-of-the-art talks, stimulating panel discussions, and poster/podium/video sessions, we’ll share the latest science and cover a variety of multispecialty topics in gynecologic surgery.

The Mark D. Walters Lecture, presented by Dr. Maureen Phipps (Brown University), will focus on the responsibilities and challenges inherent in leadership that give us the opportunity to inspire and make a positive impact on the lives of people we lead and serve. The TeLinde Lecture, delivered by Dr. Carrie Cunningham (Harvard Medical School), will discuss the current mental health crisis among health care professionals. Through her own lived experience, Dr. Cunningham will discuss the current state, barriers to care, and a multifaceted approach to enacting change in mental health awareness, reducing stigma and increasing resources for those who are struggling in our community.
If you haven’t already, you can still register onsite for these Postgraduate Courses and workshops which will take place on Sunday:

• Strategies for Fertility Preserving Care of Advanced Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain, chaired by Dr. Megan Billow (Cleveland Clinic)
• Surgical Management of Mullerian Anomalies, chaired by Dr. John B. Gebhart (Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN)
• Bladder and Ureter: Common Battleground for the Urogynecologists and Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgeons, co-chaired by Drs. Lisa Chao (University of Texas – Southwestern) and Ted Lee (University of Pittsburgh)
• Evaluation and Management of Anorectal Disorders for the Gynecologic Surgeon, chaired by Dr. Carolyn Swenson (University of Utah)
• SGS Fellows/Young Attending Course - Keys to a Successful Surgical Career (Non-CME) Moderators: Drs. Sadikah Behbehani and Jon Pennycuff (University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health) and Dr. Steven Radtke (Louisville, KY)
• Social Media Workshop - Social Media, AI and Beyond (Non-CME). Moderators: Jocelyn Fitzgerald, MD & Mireille Truong, MD
We are happy to again feature Academic Roundtables on Monday and Tuesday covering a wide variety of topics (10 each day!). These small, group settings are a perfect opportunity to question experts. A thought- provoking panel discussion on Tuesday -- Ethics and the Power of AI in Gynecologic Care -- will feature Drs. Ruth Farrell (Cleveland Clinic) and Susannah Rose (Vanderbilt University).

Our networking sessions and social events make our meeting an enjoyable as well as productive experience. Join us on Sunday evening for the SGS Equity Council Presentation - Making Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Obsolete: What You Can Do To Make It DIE. This presentation will be given by Dr. Linda Bradley (Cleveland Clinic). From there, join the Welcome Reception from 6 – 7 pm. On Monday evening, the President’s Reception will be held from 7:15 – 8:30 pm, immediately following the Annual Awards Ceremony. Tuesday morning will kick-off with a yoga session led by Mireille Truong, a relaxing therapeutic way to energize your day. Tuesday afternoon we feature outdoor fun with the Annual SGS Golf Tournament or a kayaking tour down Shingle Creek. Our afternoon of leisure culminates with the not-to-be-missed Tuesday evening SGS FUNdraiser Around the World journey. It’s our 50th anniversary so please be present and bring your support!

Please connect with and say thank you to our exhibitors and sponsors. Their strong support of our society is crucial and allows us to bring you the excellent programming and innovation in research and education every year.
No matter where you are in your career, SGS has a dedicated research group meeting here in Orlando to meet your needs – from the Fellows Pelvic Research Network (FPRN)® designed to ignite multi-center research projects among fellows, to the Systematic Review Group (SRG), to the Collaborative Research in Pelvic Surgery (CoRPS) Consortium for members focused on multi-center research who are more advanced in their careers.

I am very grateful and honored for the opportunity to serve with members of the SGS Board and all the SGS committee volunteers who have made this the go-to meeting for gynecologic surgery education and research.

Thank you for celebrating with us in Orlando!
