A Message from the 50th President of the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons
Our Annual Scientific Meeting held in Tucson last month was a huge success! Thank you to the Scientific Program Committee, led by Drs. Amy Park and Cheryl Iglesia, for the outstanding scientific program, the work of the abstract and video reviewers, and all of the contributing investigators and speakers! We had a record number of attendees (593!), 208 abstract submissions and 114 video submissions this year. Not only was the program insightful, attendees also had a blast at our Tuesday afternoon leisure activities, especially the reimagined FUNraising event put together by Dr. Lauren Siff and her committee.
We are thrilled to announce that we raised over $11,000 for the SGS Research Fund in a campaign honoring Dr. Joseph Schaffer as the recipient of the 2023 President’s Award for Dedicated Service to SGS. In addition, at the SHARE FUNraising event we raised over $18,000 for the John O. L. DeLancey Fund to support the Pelvic Anatomy Group’s growing and much needed digital library. The goal of the digital library is to disseminate accurate information and serve as a valuable resource for teaching and research using surgical/cadaveric video and images.
If you haven’t already, don’t forget to complete the meeting evaluation and claim your CME. The link to the evaluation (required to claim your credit) was emailed to all attendees. If you cannot locate it in your inbox or spam folder, you can email your request for it to be resent to [email protected].
It was extremely inspiring for me to look around the room and see many giants in our field, members and young learners, all gathered and mingling together in Tucson for our annual event. I was humbled to be surrounded by all of you who embody the spirit and mission of SGS. The recent 2023 Annual Scientific Meeting in Tucson set a whole new bar for our society. Save the date for the 50th Annual Scientific Meeting in Orlando next March. We promise to deliver and are excited to celebrate with you all!
