Applications are now being accepted for the SGS Board positions of Assistant Secretary/Treasurer and Member-At-Large for service terms to begin April 2027.
Please read the below descriptions and requirements for each position, as only those individuals with required prior SGS experience will be considered.

Assistant Secretary/Treasurer
The SGS Assistant Secretary/Treasurer is a 5-year commitment with succession to Secretary/Treasurer in year 2, President-Elect in year 3, SGS President in year 4, and a final fifth year on the Board as Immediate Past-President. Candidates for the position of Assistant Secretary/Treasurer must:
- Be an Active Member of SGS in good standing for a minimum of three years.
- Have previous experience on the SGS Board as a Board Member-at-Large or Committee Chair or served as an Associate Chair of the Research Committee or Scientific Program Committee.
Member-at-Large
The SGS Board Member-At-Large is a 2-year commitment. Candidates for this position must:
- Be an Active Member of SGS in good standing for a minimum of three years
- Have previous service on an SGS committee or task force for a minimum of two years
Board Service Time Commitment
Each of these positions serves on the Executive Committee which meets via Zoom for one hour each month. The Executive Committee actively responding to immediate requests between meetings, so the ability to be responsive by email generally within 24-48 hours is needed. Total time expected of these positions is estimated to be 2-3 hours per month.
Note: The time commitment for Secretary/Treasurer and subsequent officer positions in future years increases to 4-6 hours per month.
