How to Become a Member

Active Member

Qualified physician who are board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology or the American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology may be proposed for membership by an Active SGS member,  with endorsement by a second member.

SGS welcomes qualified international physicians. Distinguished physicians and surgeons with credentials equivalent to the American boards listed above may also be proposed for membership.

 

Associate Member – Post Fellowship

Gynecologic surgeons within three years post Fellowship training are eligible for membership as Post Fellowship Associate Members. This membership status is a transition toward Active Membership when Board certification is typically completed.

Post Fellowship Training Associate Members may participate fully in Society activities but may not vote, hold office, or propose or endorse new members until achieving Active Membership status.

Associate Member

Fellows in advanced gynecologic surgical fields (Complex Family Planning; Gynecologic Oncology; Maternal-Fetal Medicine; Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility; and Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery) as well as Minimally Invasive Gyncecologic Surgery or general Fellows in gynecology or urology residency programs, are eligible for membership as Associate Members.

Fellows’ Pelvic Research Network (FPRN)® members must be Associate Members; residents are not eligible.

Associate Members may participate fully in Society activities but may not vote, hold office, or propose or endorse new members until achieving Active Membership status.

Life Member

Active Members who have been members of the Society for at least 10 years and are age 70 or older, or who are retired, may request Life Membership by submitting a written request to the Executive Director.

Life Members are not required to pay annual dues. If they attend the Annual Meeting, a discounted registration fee applies. Life Members enjoy all membership privileges except the right to vote or hold office.
