Dear SGS Members,
I am honored to step into the role of President of SGS, to work with the Executive Committee, SGS Board, our countless volunteers, talented membership and management team to support and move the SGS’s mission forward over the next year. Thank you for entrusting this work to me.
Our 52nd Anniversary meeting in Phoenix, Arizona was a huge success! I extend a heartfelt thank you to the committed volunteers, including the Scientific Program Committee, led by the amazing Dr. Peter Jeppson, the abstract and video reviewers, and the many contributing investigators and speakers. Thank you all for your hard work, dedication and energy. We had more than 630 total attendees and 298 abstract/video submissions this year. Not only was the program insightful and inspiring, but attendees enjoyed what makes the annual meeting so enjoyable – the ample time for reconnecting with colleagues and recharging with Tuesday afternoon leisure activities.
A huge thanks to Dr. Lauren Siff and her committee for the Tuesday evening “Disco in the Desert.” Great food, fun trivia, and lots of dancing! This event was a huge success which helped contribute to members raising over $11,000 throughout the meeting.
The SGS Executive Committee meets each month and one of my priorities is to support our committee chairs in their work. In this month’s news, I am proud to share updates from our April and May discussions, and to show how the related committees/programs support our SGS strategic plan.
For those of you who have not looked at our new website, please take a moment to do so at sgsonline.org. The Executive Committee and Board committed to the resources to improve our website making content more accessible. While on the website, please look at the Pelvic Anatomy’s group’s page. The work that this group has done is incredible. If you are involved in surgical education, I would strongly encourage you to steer your trainees to the website. The goal of the digital library is to disseminate accurate information and serve as a valuable resource for teaching and research using surgical and cadaveric video and images. I also encourage you to visit our new Publications page, which you can read more about below.
If you haven’t already, don’t forget to complete your meeting evaluation and claim your CME. The link to the evaluation (required to claim your credit) was emailed to all attendees. Information provided helps inform programming for next year, so thank you in advance. If you cannot locate the evaluation in your inbox or spam folder, please email your request for it at meeting@sgsonline.org.
It was extremely inspiring for me to look around the room and see so many colleagues and friends who have contributed to excellence in gynecologic surgery through clinical care, education, research, advocacy and leadership. I am already looking forward to March of 2027 – save the date for the 53rd Annual Scientific Meeting in San Antonio, Texas. Please feel free to reach out to me any time with questions, concerns, ideas. Looking forward to a great year together!
