DYNAMIC ANATOMY OF ANTERIOR VAGINAL SUPPORT
Drs. John O. L. DeLancey, Michael Aronson
Cystourethrocele that arises from loss of anterior vaginal wall support is the
most common pelvic support defect. Richardson has identified that this often
occurs due to lateral detachment of the vaginal fibromuscular layer from the
pelvic sidewall. Further studies that we have published indicate that this
occurs due to detachment of the arcus tendineus fascia pelvic from its
attachment at the ischial spine in 95% of women. This videotape reviews the
relevant anatomy of this area in cadaver dissection and displays the nature of
these lesions.
