ABBE-WHARTON-MCINDOE OPERATION AND
ABDOMINOPLASTY
Dr. Dionysios K. Veronikis
The Abbe-Wharton-McIndoe Operation is a very popular technique in creating a
neovagina. A drawback to the technique has been the required split thickness
skin graft and subsequent healing of the donor site by secondary intention. The
video demonstrates the operative technique of constructing a neovagina by
cavitation with split thickness skin grafting as well as the approach to
harvesting split thickness skin from the anterior abdominal wall. Additionally,
the donor site split thickness defect is excised and converted to healing by
primary intention via abdominoplasty.
