SGS GOLF TOURNAMENT

altHyatt Regency Grand Cypress - The New Course

Tuesday, March 13, 2018   2:10 PM - SHOTGUN START

It is time to see who will unseat the reigning team champions Sean Francis, Greg DiRocco and David Quinlan, women’s closest to the pin winner Chirstine Vaccaro, men’s closest to the pin winner Christopher Ripperda, women’s longest drive winner Cheryl Perrero, and men’s longest drive winner Chris Strauchon. No prize was awarded to best dressed John Gebhart in his camo shorts, but a style statement he did make!!!  Drew Cassidenti is turning the chair of this great SGS tradition over to one of last year's winners, Sean Francis. A fun time will be had by all.

Set in the midst of an open meadow, the New Course is Jack Nicklaus’ tribute and homage to the famed Old Course at St. Andrews, Scotland. This Scottish links masterpiece is complete with double greens, stone bridges and walls, gorse mounds, burns and pot bunkers as deep as 12 feet—all in the spirit of the true Scottish original. Very little water comes into play on the New Course, but when it does it will challenge you. Very few trees are located within the interior of the course, creating generous landing areas. However, an errant tee shot could find its way into one of our 150 pot bunkers.

The course is about a mile down the road from the hotel. Shuttles will be available at the front entrance to transport golfers to the course. The general session ends at 1:10 pm followed by a 20 minute SGS Member Meeting. We anticipate playing all 18 holes with a shotgun start at 2:10 pm.

The format will be a four man/woman scramble eighteen hole tournament where everyone hits a shot. The best ball is chosen, everyone hits the next shot from there; best ball is chosen and this continues until the ball is holed out. There is absolutely no pressure on anyone except to have a good time with our colleagues and cocktails on a beautiful golf course. We encourage all who play a little or no golf during the year to join us as golf is secondary to the great times we have on the golf course. The $199 fee covers the round of golf, golf cart, prizes for the first and second place teams, longest drive men and women and closest to the pin men and women and up to four cocktails, beer, sodas or snacks.

We should finish the round by 6:45 pm and will have time to clean up for the Fund Development "SGS' Got Talent" which will start at 7:00 pm until 10:00 pm. The prizes for the golf tournament will be announced during the "SGS' Got Talent" event.

Rental clubs are available for $65. Golf shoes and golf balls are not included with the club rental fee. Please make sure to secure your rental clubs at the pro shop prior to the day of the tournament.

Last year we had a blast and this year will be even better. Please join us!
